Since becoming a travel agent in 1973, I've been to every continent but Antarctica, and more than anything I love recreating those experiences for my clients.

Part of crafting a memorable trip is creating an itinerary that reflects each client's particular interests. For me, a near-fanatical foodie, each destination has something delicious I can't wait to explore:

• dive into the deep-fried saltiness of bacarones in Spain
• enjoy umami-rich meat-and-bean laden feijoada in Brazil
• sit by the wharf in San Francisco and crack crabs fished out of the ocean only hours before.

Customized tours are an ideal way for friends or family to explore together, and there is perhaps no great example than the four ladies I helped send to Tuscany. For two weeks they reveled in an almost endless wine tastings and cooking classes, staying in a glorious Tuscan villa and then exploring Florence via private tour before heading to Venice by way of first-class train tickets. I took care of everything so they worried about nothing aside from concentrating only at the very enjoyable tasks at hand.

One personal passion of mine is socially motivated trips. Last year I made arrangements for a 35-person non-profit group to head to Morocco, overseeing everything from the flights to the meetings with local non-profits. I also put together private tours for a few group members who wanted to see other parts of the continent during their stay, organizing flights to Johannesburg for museum hopping, a side trip to Cape Town, and even a safari through the stunning wilds of Zimbabwe.
