Let me introduce myself; my name is Shannon Dewbrew. I live outside of Tampa, Florida, but I am originally from southeast Pennsylvania outside of Philadelphia. Traveling has been in my blood from the start of my life. At 6 months of age I took my first trip to Disney World where I took my first steps to see the mouse who started it all. Then at the tender age of 22 months I became an international traveler heading to Cancun Mexico. I may not remember those trips, but that was the beginning of a lifelong passion for myself. By the time I was 6 years old my parents were taking us to travel throughout the Caribbean every Christmas. As a child I was fortunate enough to have visited every Caribbean country except for Cuba, for obvious reasons. As a preteen I had a marvelous opportunity to travel to the Netherlands to represent the United States for the US junior soccer team and had the privilege to spend a month in that beautiful country. Not only did I have the chance to travel on these trips as a child/teenager I also had the opportunities to take a few cruises.
After high school I went to college and received an MBA in Marketing. After graduating I went to work for my father in his business that he had had since 1976. I also met my future husband shortly after graduating. He did not have opportunities to travel growing up like I had. As a matter of fact, his overseas travel experiences came from his time in the military. I had the opportunity to introduce him to the life of travelling. I was able to see the joy it brought to someone else’s eyes. As we started our own family, we decided that the best gifts to give to our daughter are the gifts of memories. Toys only last so long, but the memories we make as a family are everlasting. I started then helping my parents and friends plan trips. This is when I realized how much joy I had in building special vacations for people that were able to have these memories.
In 2018 I decided to take the leap of faith and become a travel agent. After all this time, it has been a wonderful decision for me. As time moved on my client list just grew and the places, I sent people grew as well. My knowledge of other countries is always growing. Then in 2022 I took the biggest leap in my career. I went off on my own and started Passport to Paradise. At times it is a struggle, but it is such a reward to me when my clients go on these trips of a lifetime. I enjoy looking at their pictures of the times they are away and seeing that they are living life carefree and happy. That is why I enjoy being a travel agent, making these unbelievable trips for my clients and making the trip carefree for them and handling all the small details and being there for them if a problem arises.
